The general British English and American English histories have been briefly explained. But they have not been dissected into both dialect and English Word origin (leading to English influence on other languages. While Australia also uses English as their official language, Australian English is most likely described accurately as a British and American hybrid.
As the above map shows, there are (between the United States and Canada) eight preliminary dialects, Canadian, Northern New England, North, Greater New York City, Midland, South, North Central, and West. Canadian is relatively universal across Canada with the exception of Canadian-English spoken by aboriginal peoples. It has been said often that Northern American English is most closely universal American English, which is to say, the most common and widespread across the continent despite regional dialects.
